Probably the most popular of all the museums in Mumbai, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalay houses an extensive collection of more than 50,000 artifacts, each precious item depicting India’s rich heritage. Classified based on Art, Archaeology, and Natural History, the collection consists of ancient jewelry, textiles, sculptures, terracotta pottery, excavated relics related to Indus valley civilization, handcrafted Buddhist sculptures, Indian miniature paintings, European paintings, and artifacts from China, Tibet and Japan. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalay also offers interactive experiences and international exhibitions. Moreover, the building itself is a landmark in the city, well-recognized for its beautiful Indo-Saracenic style of architecture.

CST Heritage Gallery & Railway Museum:

Ever wondered about the history of Indian railways while experiencing a train journey in the country? CST Heritage Gallery & Railway Museum is the answer to your questions. Located in CST station near the main station entrance, this UNESCO-listed heritage museum in Mumbai enthralls visitors with interesting memorabilia associated with the Indian Railways such as old engines, brass bells, telephones, crockery, model trains, old train tickets, and more. There’s also an old telegraph machine with an original book of codes at this museum. Interesting, isn’t it?

National Museum of Indian Cinema: 

Mumbai, the place where Indian cinema took birth, has a special museum dedicated to Bollywood, the famed Hindi film industry. Established in the year 2019, this museum chronicles the evolution of Indian cinema since the 1900s. This museum is a real treat for all movie buffs. There are ancient film posters, magazines, promotional leaflets, costumes worn by actors and actresses, vintage cameras, and other vintage equipment on display at this museum.
